Dear Preschool Parents,

It was so nice to see all of you again this week as we got back into the swing of things at preschool. We hope you all had a great holiday break and made it through the crazy weather!

We had two themes this past week at preschool, and we will continue them this week-Friendship and Winter. We read lots of great books about snow and winter. One day we even had fun with ice and water in the sensory table. Some children really enjoyed making snowflakes, and on Friday we added white glitter. (Glitter is always a hit!) You should see them hanging around the classroom soon. At circle time Jenny has been using the Second Step program to learn about friendship. The children got to look at various pictures of children who were sad/happy/mad, etc and talk about why they might be feeling that way. They also got introduced to Impulsive Puppy and Slow-down Snail. Impulsive puppy has trouble with boundaries and jumps all over everyone, and Slow-down snail helps him slow down, stop, and think. The kids really loved Impulsive Puppy and Slow-down snail and may have mentioned them at home.

Next week at preschool we will continue with Friendship and Winter as our two themes. We have many more great books to read (thanks Holly!), and we hope to do some partnering activities-giving the kids a chance to work together. The children will also get to visit with Impulsive Puppy and Slow-down Snail again at circle time. We also have a special walking field trip planned on Wednesday morning to the Funhouse! They have hosted us before, but we have not been yet this school year, and we are really looking forward to it. Also on Wednesday, mark your calendar, it will be our Annual Potluck at 5:30pm at the Senior Center. The Annual Board Meeting will be held at 5pm prior to the Potluck and all parents are welcome. Please come and enjoy the good company.

Thank you so much for giving us the privilege of working with your children. How lucky we are to be a part of their lives, and to watch them grow and develop into amazing little people!

Jenny, Amy, and Tess!
