Dear Preschool Parents,

Preschool was full of all kinds of good stuff this week. Hope you all had a great week as well. We read Rainbow Fish this week at circle time. It is a great story about friendship and sharing. On our bulletin board in the classroom we created a huge fish and the children painted scales for it. A lot of the children got involved with this activity and our fish looks great. Feel free to come into the classroom and check it out! Letters were all around the classroom this week. We even enjoyed making alphabet soup together. It was so fun at lunchtime to hear the kids saying “I have an S!” and “I found the letters in my name!” Some children enjoyed doing rubbings of our sandpaper letters, making sentence strips, and spelling words with letters on the light table this week. We also made beautiful fish with contact paper that are decorating our windows around the classroom. We continued our work with second step. The children seem to look forward to seeing impulsive puppy and slow-down snail. Outside this week Amy started putting the garden to bed with the children. Worms, dirt, and bugs-what’s not to like?! We also got the parachute out and had a great time making it fly up and running under it. It was beautiful and sunny this week, but very cold. Please bring your kiddos with gloves and hats because outside time is so valuable, and we brave the cold! If anyone has extra gloves and hats that they would be willing to donate, we could use some extras at school. J

Next week at preschool we are continuing with early literacy activities and Nighttime fun. Thursday we will be having Pajama Day!! If your child would like to wear their pajamas to school this is the day! (Teachers will also be participating!) Also on Thursday we are going to walk to the library for storytime. Nita is a great storyteller and we are really looking forward to the trip. We will continue to put the garden to bed, make some nighttime playdough, and some oil pastel tempura paintings. Goodnight Moon will be one of our stories this week, and it is a great one for the children to expand on. Second step will continue-if you have any questions about this program, please feel free to ask. We are looking forward to a great week.

Jenny, Amy, and I wanted to let you know that the children are really enjoying going to the preschool extension program with Teacher Bari. On your child’s day Bari picks the kids up around 9:30 and they head down to her room at the ITC. The children enjoy more one-on-one time, and we have seen children play together in different ways with different kids. Please stop by and check out our room in the ITC and say hello to Bari!

As parents you are the most important teachers in your child’s life. We appreciate the opportunity to be with, teach, and love your children as well.

Jenny, Amy, and Tess.
