February 1, 2009
Dear Preschool Parents, Happy February! The year is moving quickly. Hope you all are doing well and enjoying a bit of sun-even though it is cold! We have been having a great time at preschool. Last week we had some Nighttime Fun, and continued with early literacy projects. The highlight of the week was on Thursday when we had pajama day. Teachers and kids wore their favorite pajamas and then we walked to the library for story time. Nita the librarian read us some great nighttime stories and our kids did a super job sitting and listening. The children got to make midnight playdough this week (all black and glittery), and had a great time playing with it. We read some fun books this week including Goodnight Moon. After reading the story the children came up with their own pages of a “Goodnight” book. We are hoping to get every child to do a page, and complete our very own preschool book-with some fabulous illustrations! As usual we had fun running and playing outside, and we were grateful not to be getting rained on! Next week will start out a little differently on Monday with Teacher Annie from the infant room and Teacher Bari from our preschool extension subbing that day. As you may have heard Jenny, Amy, Jana, Stephen, Emily, and myself will be traveling to Seattle to visit an accredited preschool. We will get to tour the facility and check out what an accredited preschool looks like. Teacher Annie and Teacher Bari are familiar with the kids and the routine and should have a great day. On Tuesday all the regular staff will be back and we are going to enjoy some Valentine fun and more early literacy projects. On Wednesday this week will have the opportunity to walk to the post office and get the grand tour! Children will be writing letters this week to bring with them on the field trip. It would be wonderful if you asked your child who they might like to write to so that you could bring in an address for us, if possible. We will read more great books this week, including some Groundhog Day ones on Monday. The children will get to play with water this week in the sensory table. We will also make some yummy bread later in the week. Hope you all have a great week-we certainly will at preschool! Thank you for all that you do for your children and our school. We are lucky to have such amazing families all around us. Jenny, Amy, and Tess.
