February 8th, 2009
Dear Preschool Parents, This first week of February has been a fun one at preschool. Hope you all have had a good week as well. We started out the week with our teacher field trip to a preschool in Seattle that has just gone through the accreditation process. The trip was really informative and worthwhile. Feel free to ask any questions if you would like more information on our journey to accreditation. Thank you to those of you who have filled out our family surveys, and if any of you need new copies don’t hesitate to ask. The surveys are one important piece of our accreditation process. Back in the classroom we had fun writing valentines. We brought them with us on our field trip to the post office on Wednesday. The weather was beautiful for our walk, and the children enjoyed the grand tour of the post office-(especially watching their letters drop through the mail slot)! We also enjoyed making bread this week, and we really enjoyed eating it! Children started making valentine pockets for receiving valentines next week. We read great stories, made glittery valentines, and had so much fun in the sun! The weather has been so nice that we got out the big parachute again, and we explored the garden-eating kale along the way. Next week we will have a fun valentine week. The children will finish up making their valentine pockets, and they will get hung up in the classroom. The kids can make valentines anytime during the week, and they may also bring valentines from home. If you are bringing in valentines for the class, we will be officially exchanging them on Thursday morning. If your child does not come on Thursdays, feel free to pop in and delivery valentines-and receive them! A good idea is to put “from (your child’s name)” on each valentine you bring in, and not worry about labeling the “to” section. We have 21 children total, and each child will have a pocket. When we are not making valentines we will enjoy going on a nature walk this week, reading great books, and having fun in the yard. Hopefully we will continue to see some of this sun! If you have any questions or concerns please let us know, and feel free to pop in the classroom anytime. Your children inspire us, teach us, and bring us joy. Thank you for doing the hardest job there is-raising such amazing children.
Jenny, Amy, and Tess.
