Dear Preschool Parents,
Hope you all had a great week and a fun Valentine’s Day. We had a very fun time at preschool. All the valentine pockets the children made were hung up and ready to go in the hallway. The children continued to make valentines at school, and enjoyed making deliveries throughout the day. On Tuesday we went on a nature walk in the cold-and we even had a bit of snow. (Thanks for bringing in hats and gloves for your kiddos). We read a fun popcorn dragon book this week and made our very own popcorn. Outside this week there was a lame raven in our playhouse. It had a broken wing, and the children did a wonderful job watching it from a distance. We called Wolf Hollow and they came to pick up the raven. Hopefully it will recover quickly. It was an amazing experience to see a bird that size so close up. On Thursday this week children brought in valentines and had fun putting them in everyone’s pocket. We also had Nita from the library come that day and read stories to us at circle time. The children also made a handprint “thank you” poster for the folks at the post office. We had such fun delivering our mail there last week. Overall it was a very festive week!
Next week at preschool we are having an “I can do it” theme. We will be having some lessons at circle time on hand washing, catching your coughs, and brushing teeth. We will also have some activities available to build fine motor skills-like buttoning, lacing, and zipping. We are also planning on measuring all the kids this week and checking out how tall we all are getting! Make your own pizzas is in the works on Thursday, and that should be very fun. New playdough will get made this week, and of course we will have lots of fun outside. We are also planning a work party for the weekend of the 21st, and will give out more details this week. We wanted to let you know that Jenny will be out Monday and Tuesday, and I will be out Thursday and Friday of this week. We have some great subs helping us out this week who are familiar with our routine and with most of the children. Just a friendly reminder, preschool is officially over at 3:00pm, and we would appreciate prompt pick-ups. The teachers who are there at the end of the day have clean up and prep work to get to before they can get home to their families. We understand you are all busy parents, but we would really appreciate the effort! J

Quote of the Week: While looking at the letters M-O-M on a friend’s valentine, Alecia said, “Your mom has the same name as my mom!” by Alecia Talbot.
