Dear Preschool Parents,
We had a fabulous time at preschool this week with our Wind theme. At outside time we had a great time with bubbles all week. We had a fun art activity where the kids used straws to blow the paint around on their paper. It was a hit. We read some great stories about the wind. We also read Dr. Seuss books this week in celebration of his birthday. Teacher Jenny got out the hair dryer one day and showed the children how to keep a ping-pong ball up in the air with it. This activity was so fun, and the kids took turns creating the “magic”! We also washed our stuffed animals this week in the sensory table, and had a great time getting them very, very clean!! Nita the librarian paid us a visit on Thursday and read the kids some stories at circle time. The children always enjoy her visits. Plastic bag kites ended the week with the kids catching the air in their bags. Overall, it was a fun week full of discovery.

Next week at preschool we will be exploring Seeds as our theme. We are lucky enough to have a senior from Orcas Island High School, Ashley McCloskey, doing her senior project with us at Children’s House. She will be helping plan and plant our garden this year. Some of you may have already met her at the work party, and she spent time with the children last week planting peas. We will continue planting broccoli and pea seeds this week. The children will also get to do a seed collage which should get good and messy! Parents, if you could please send in a type of seed with your child this week that would be great. We always love parents getting involved, and if you have any great gardening skills or you just love to get your hands dirty, please don’t hesitate to jump in and help out. In other news, Teacher Amy is getting baby chicks soon that will be brooding at Children’s House outside in a bunny hutch. The kids will get to enjoy them while they are here-it should be very fun and exciting.

Thank you for sharing your fabulous kids with us. You are the experts on your children, and hope you all to feel heard and included in life at preschool!!

Jenny, Amy, and Tess.

Just a reminder-the clocks went forward an hour this weekend, so see you bright and early! It will definitely feel early!
