Dear Preschool Parents,
We had a very fun week at preschool exploring our Seeds theme. On the table where the children sign in we have some seeds in water that are growing some pretty cool leaves, so be sure to check them out. The children had fun making seed collages this week on cardboard. Some children really took their time picking out seeds carefully and designing a beautiful picture-a great opportunity to build some fine motor skills. We read lots of books about seeds and gardens, and learned some fun songs at circle that your children might be singing at home! Baking poppy seed muffins was another fun activity we did this week. Of course eating them was the best reward for all our hard work stirring and mixing! We also enjoyed tracing the children’s bodies this week. Some kids spent a lot of time coloring their bodies in, and the individual creations are pretty special. You will have the opportunity to appreciate them at the upcoming family dance at the Oddfellows hall on the 28th. They will be all over the walls! Overall it was a really fun, active week at preschool.
Next week at preschool we will have a Seeds/Garden/Green theme to explore. The children will get to get their hands dirty by planting snap peas in the garden. We will continue with some seed songs and stories at circle time this week. On Thursday we will enjoy a field trip to the library for story time with Nita. This is always a fun adventure that the kids really seem to enjoy. In celebration of Saint Patrick’s Day we will make some fun shamrock window stickers and make yummy shamrock cookies. In art this week the kids will get to create the color green with yellow and blue paint. There is something so magical about this simple activity. Just a friendly reminder-please bring in any kind of seed your child would like this week if you didn’t last week. Spring is just around the corner, so Happy Spring to you all! Now let’s hope it warms up! On that note, the chicks that were coming this week will not come for about 2 more weeks. It just isn’t quite warm enough for them yet, but they will be here soon!
Finally, we wanted to share with you some great fundraising information on fun events coming up. Children’s House is collaborating with the other preschools to put on family dance parties, all to be held at the Oddfellows Hall from 6-8pm. Here are the important dates to remember, so come and have some fun!
