Dear Preschool Parents,
This week at preschool we had a great time exploring our theme of Shadows and Moon Phases. The children painted a beautiful moon mural that is up in our classroom. The puppets came out this week and the kids did lots of silly puppet shows. Children enjoyed tracing “shadows” on the sensory table-a great way to build fine-motor skills. We read many moon stories and learned some fun moon songs at circle time. Continuing from last week, some children made milk carton bird feeders. They are hanging up around our playground, and the birds are coming and using them. We had planned on making sun prints this week, but the weather did not cooperate. In fact, it played a good joke on us on April Fool’s Day with the snowy conditions! Hopefully we will see more of the sun this coming week. Overall, we had a very fun week full of lots of imaginative play and laughter!
Next week at preschool should be really fun as we explore our theme of Eggs and Farm. Teacher Amy brought her chicks to school this last Friday and they are brooding outside in an old bunny hutch. The children will get to enjoy watching these little guys grow-so fun!! We are even going to measure a chick so we can really see the results. On Tuesday we will have a visit from Hilary Canty and her baby ducks at circle time. This should be quite an exciting circle time for the kids! We will color eggs this week as well as make egg shaped window stickers. The children will be singing “Five Little Ducks” this week and reading some great stories at circle time. Ashley McCloskey (the senior that is working on our garden) is coming this week to paint rocks with the kids and decorate our garden with them. It should really look beautiful. We are also walking to the library this week on Thursday for story time with Nita. The children always enjoy this adventure, and it should be really fun.
