Dear Preschool Parents, Hope you all are having a happy Easter and a great weekend. We had a lot of fun at preschool this week. Our theme this week was Farm and Eggs. The children decorated egg window stickers, glued and decorated paper eggs, and dyed hard boiled eggs this week. At outside time we really enjoyed visiting with the baby chicks. The children are very curious and very gentle with our new friends. On Wednesday Hilary Canty brought in her baby ducks to share, and they were definitely a hit. We learned some great songs at circle time like “Five Little Ducks”, and also read some fun stories. On Thursday we walked to the Library for story time with Nita. The children really enjoy this adventure and they did a great job listening to all the fun books. On Friday we enjoyed an egg hunt outside. Some children found their 3 eggs very quickly, and then went on to help their friends who weren’t having as much luck. It is always nice to see the children looking out for one another. We have such a nice community of children and families at Children’s House! Ashley McClosky paid us a visit this week as well. The children enjoyed painting rocks with her for the garden. Overall it was a great week full of all the new beginnings of spring! Preschool should be really fun next week as we continue our farm theme and also get to experience a “Week of Music for Young Ones”. As you may have read in the paper, we are lucky enough to have Patricia Campbell, a professor of music at the University of Washington, come and do some music circles with our children. She will visit us on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9-10am. This should be a rich, amazing musical experience for the children. Also, on Thursday the 16th from 6-7pm, Patricia Campbell will be meeting with parents and staff to discuss the importance of music for young children. There will be childcare provided at Kaleidoscope during this time. The children will be served a pizza dinner. So please come and join us for a great evening. We are really looking forward to her visit. Also during the week we will continue are great songs and stories about the farm at circle time. The children will get more gardening time in, and we will have another visit from Ashley McClosky. Hopefully we will have some great spring time weather and get to spend a lot of time outside. Popovers will be our baking project this week, which is a fun one for the kids. It should be a great week! Please remember that next week is parent/teacher conference week. Hopefully you have signed up for a conference on the sign up sheet on the bulletin board. Check your time, and see you then. If you haven’t signed up, please do ASAP! And don’t forget to turn in your assessment sheet of your child. This really helps us prepare for your conference. If you need a new one, they are by the child sign in sheet. Thanks so much!!
Jenny, Amy, and Tess.
