Dear Preschool Parents, We had an amazing week at preschool this week. The highlight of the week was our visits from Patricia Campbell. She is a professor of music at the University of Washington and she came and did some wonderful music circles with the children. She was very inspiring, and the children really enjoyed her. Professor Campbell also gave a talk on Thursday night to parents and staff about “Music for Young Ones”. If you were lucky enough to attend this event, I am sure you saw how wonderful it was to have her work with our children and staff this week. Also this week, some of the children did some gardening with Ashley McCloskey. We visited the chicks often at outside time, and enjoyed the nice weather. We also baked popovers this week which was very fun. If you would like a recipe for this fun treat just let us know. Circle time was filled with fun songs and stories this week as usual. Overall it was a great week. Thank you all who came to parent/teacher conferences this week. These conferences are such a great opportunity to discuss your child and find out any questions or concerns you may be having. We feel that working with our families is an essential part of having a successful program. Children’s House is quite blessed to have such amazing group of families!! Next week at preschool we will be having an Earth Day theme. Wednesday is Earth Day and we will take a walk and pick up trash. The children have noticed some trash along the way to the library, and we will take this opportunity to clean it up! We would also love some donated materials that you would normally recycle. All week we are going to be working on a 3-D recycled material sculpture at preschool. This should be a great opportunity to really get creative. So please bring in plastic bottles, bottle caps, newspaper, etc! Thursday is Arbor Day and we are going to be planting a tree. We are also planning some fun earth songs and we are going to be making a thank you note for our volunteer recycler. A walk to the Funhouse is also in the plans for Tuesday. It should be an awesome week!
