Dear Preschool Parents, We all had a great time at preschool last week exploring our theme of Marine Exploration. The children did sea life stamps, crab window stickers, and sponge painting. We enjoyed a lot of time outside in the amazing weather. The garden is full of spinach, peas, strawberries, and more! At lunch on Friday our salad was made from the garden complete with fennel. The children get so much joy from picking and eating the food from the garden-so fun! On Friday we took a walk to the beach. The children enjoyed flipping over rocks and collecting crabs! We saw hermit crabs, little fish, and more. Back at school we created a habitat for the crabs- just for the day. It was a great end to a fun week.
Next week at preschool we are going to be learning about tide pools. The children will learn a fun song all about tide pools, and we will be talking a lot about all the amazing creatures you find in tide pools. The children will get to use glue and sand to create a fun art project-also a great sensory experience. We will continue to enjoy the bountiful food from the garden. At circle time we will enjoy a wonderful story about pickin’ peas-and then get to go pick some! On Wednesday we will go visit the Funhouse which the children always enjoy.
This week we are getting a new student, Karl, from Montessori Preschool. Karl is a great kid who will be a Kindergartner in the fall. He has autism and will come with a full time aide, Kathy Staub. They are both wonderful and we are excited to have them. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
A final note, we have had two cases of pink eye at preschool recently. Please remind your children to wash hands frequently and pay attention to any red eyes or any mucous in the eye. Pink eye is very contagious. Thanks so much.
Jenny, Amy, and Tess.
