Parents,
   In Tess’ absence I (Jenny) am writing a brief newsletter recapping last week’s activities and introducing this week’s. Tess will be back on Wednesday, 7/15, and we have missed her!
   Cascade Falls trip happened on Monday and Thursday, since Bari was sick Tuesday and Wednesday. Those children who missed out will get to make it up and you’ll be notified as to when it will happen.
   Stop by the pre-school classroom to see the sea creatures Khadoma and the children made which are hanging from the ceiling.
   Rain kept us indoors a little longer than usual, so we enjoyed a fun and gooey activity combining cornstarch, water and paint, using droppers. This was a good fine-motor activity. We also made new playdough.
   More books were read about the sea, lakes, and tide pools. We learned a poem about tide pool creatures using a felt board activity.
   This week we are beginning a Native American unit that will extend at least 2 weeks, as the curriculum is so enriching and encompassing. We are looking for any of the following;
1.   Native American Artifacts
2.   A Tipi to assemble outside
3.   Native American music on CD’s
4.   Story tellers who want to volunteer
5.   Ideas on how to make a totem pole
6.   Anything else related to this theme
Your children may come home wanting to tell you stories of how fire was brought to the animal people, or how raven brought light to people, or many other delightful and enchanting tales. We are excited to learn more about our First Nation People.
Field trips this week will be up to Mount Constitution, which should be exciting. Hopefully it will be clear enough to see the breathtaking view.
   Our curriculum has been enriched having older children with our group of 3, 4, and 5 year olds. The 6 and 7 year olds help in the classroom, and with our daily routines. A big thanks to older siblings!
   We could use some volunteers to help weed our garden and weed-eat around the beds. If anyone is interested please let us know.

   Sincerely,

   Jenny and Staff

Quote of the week:
