Dear Preschool Parents, Last week at preschool was an interesting one with a few less children out with a stomach bug. Everyone seems to be on the mend and we will hopefully be back to normal this week. The children went to Moran State Park for the Critters and Creatures class this week. They learned about predator and prey and the web of life. In the classroom we also discussed predator and prey and read some great books like Rikki Tikki Tavi on the subject. We also created a critter mural on the bulletin board that you are welcome to come in and check out. The children created trees, critters, and grass for the mural and it turned out great. On Friday Antionette Botsford visited and told some wonderful stories. This was quite a treat and the children really enjoyed it.
Next week at preschool the children will go to Moran State Park again for another Critters and Creatures class. This time the focus will be Birds. In the classroom we will make our own bird nests with mud, sticks, yarn, and more. The children will also decorate some bird window stickers, pound pinecones up for an Owl art project, and learn some new songs like, “Fly Like an Eagle.” We of course will soak up as much sun as is available while we spend plenty of time outside.
On a final note, the children have created an amazing water system in the sandbox. This community project was completely initiated and maintained by the children. They have been having a great time with it and are really enjoying working together. Join us at outside time and check it out!

Quote of the Week: At Camp Moran the ranger said, “Ok now we’re going to play a game called Prey and Predator.” Satine Tyree said, “Oh no, I don’t want to pray, I pray at home everyday.”
