Dear Preschool Parents, This week at preschool we had a great time exploring our theme of “Farms”. The children visited the Blue Moon Farm on their field trip and got to see all kinds of animals. In the classroom we created a farm mural (complete with penguins!), made some sheep with construction paper and wool, and picked lots and lots of pears. The children helped us cut up the pears, a great way to build fine-motor skills, and a lot of fun. We got out our barn from the basement, read some fun stories about farms, and shared about our own animals and farm experiences. The weather has been wonderful and we have continued to spend plenty of time outside.
Next week at preschool will be all about transitions. Our summer session officially ends on Wednesday, and our fall session starts on Thursday. The children will help us wash chairs and clean out cubbies early in the week. Thursday we will transition into our new session and spend time getting to know all the kiddos. Many children will continue on from their summer with us, some will return from summer vacation, and we will have a couple of new students. We also have quite a few students heading off to Kindergarten as well. This week and next week we will be getting into our routine, learning all about the children, and settling into fall.
Thanks for a wonderful summer. We are very lucky to have such an invested group of parents and we appreciate you all.
Jenny and Tess.
Quote of the Week: While talking to Teacher Tess, Sophia Kobayashi said, “Is there any job I can do for you? I really enjoy helping out.”
