Dear Preschool Parents,
We had a great week at preschool last week getting to know new friends and falling into our routine. The children spent time looking into a mirror and then drawing their self-portraits. The results were beautiful, amazing and varied pictures of themselves. The weather held up pretty well this week and we spent a lot of time outside. The pear trees are absolutely loaded with pears so the children have been cutting pears for making dried pears, pear crisp, and pear sauce. We have also been enjoying them right off the tree. What a delicious treat from nature. Some children played a great cooperative game that involves picking fruit from fruit trees (to keep it away from the crow). This game was played by almost everyone and it was a big hit. Overall it was a very full, rich week at preschool.

Next week at preschool we are going to continue to learn more about ourselves and our friends. We will create a map of Orcas Island to put up on the bulletin board to show where everyone lives. Please let us know what part of the island you live on if your child does not know. This is a fun, visual way to see where all our homes are. The children will also make family trees this week. This is a great opportunity to talk about who is in their families and how different families can be from one another. We also plan on making pear bread this week since we have so many pears. Circle time will be full of good stories everyday and wonderful music with Khadoma on Wednesdays. It should be a great week.

Thanks for all your time, care, and interest. Have a great week.

Jenny and Tess.

Quote of the Week: Logan Jones said, “That’s my baby brother. We bought him at the hospital.” Teacher Jenny asked, “How much did he cost?” Logan replied, “Ten dollars.” Diego Lago added, “I think my baby brother cost nine dollars.”
