Dear Preschool Parents, Preschool was all about fall last week. The children made some beautiful water color leaves as well as leaf window stickers that are decorating our classroom. We took a nature walk with Teacher Emily’s class on Thursday and looked at all the signs of fall. We collected leaves, pinecones, and other little treasures along the way. We also made some new play dough this week in a fall orange color. Play dough is a popular activity that is very fun and creative, and also helps with fine-motor development. On Wednesday Jenny’s son Matt joined us for circle and read the children some wonderful stories about the season. We ran and played and giggled outside, and had an amazing first week of fall!
Next week at preschool we will continue our focus on fall. The children will get to help create a big tree in our classroom entirely out of butcher paper. We also plan to do tie dye leaves, fall finger painting, and a community fall collage. Hopefully the weather will stay nice for us and we will enjoy plenty of time outside. We will go outside in the rain, so please send in rain jackets and boots.
The children will get to experience a special treat this week as our musician in residence, Patricia Campbell, will visit us for a special music circle. Patricia visited us a few months past, and it was an enriching, wonderful experience for the kids and the staff. If you have any questions, please let us know.
Finally, a lot of the children have run out of extra clothes in their cubbies. It would be so helpful if parents could check your child’s cubby and refill it if necessary. Thanks so much!
Jenny and Tess.
