Dear Preschool Parents,
Last week at preschool we had a great time exploring all our Five Senses. The children got to smell, touch, taste, feel, and listen all week long. We made some wonderful smells making ginger bread on Thursday, and we felt all kinds of materials during our texture collage art project. Khadoma did a fabulous music circle with the children, singing lots of the children’s old favorites, and a new song about the five senses. Teacher Jenny led some games in circle, and read some wonderful stories. We are still enjoying a lot of time outside-dressing warmly is essential! Overall it was a very rich, fun week.
Next week at preschool we will be focusing on Corn and Harvest. We plan to make cornmeal play dough, bake corn bread, and pop popcorn. The children will get to discover patterns and shapes as we work with rectangles, square, circles, and triangles. We will use these shapes in a scarecrow art project, and we will also get to help create a class book this week all about what a scarecrow sees. Come in and take a look around the classroom for various signs of harvest as well. It should be a great week.
Please remember that this week is parent/teacher conferences. If you haven’t signed up, please do so. If you have signed up, double check your time and see you there! It isn’t too late to hand in your child’s assessment forms-we have only received a few of these and they are so helpful in planning your conferences. Thanks so much.
Jenny, Tess, Khadoma, and Amy!
Quote of the Week: Josh Kobayashi drew a picture of what looked like an Easter egg with orange and brown stripes. Teacher Jenny asked if Josh could share what his drawing was about. Josh said, “It’s a baby tiger’s bottom.”
