January 10, 2010 Dear Preschool Parents, We had a very fun and busy week last week at preschool. Our theme was Penguins and Polar Bears and the children enjoyed making paper penguins, (proudly displayed on the bullentin board), as well as penguins made out of olives and carrots! Those penguins were yummy! The children also experimented with black paper and white crayons, and then painted salt water over the entire picture. The result was a frosty winter scene. We also got good and messy with shaving cream. The children made roads in the shaving cream with cars. This was a great sensory activity, and also a lot of fun! Nita from the library visited on Thursday as well and read some great stories about penguins and polar bears. It was a great week! Next week at preschool we will be talking about Bears. The children will learn some new songs like, "Have a Little Hug Bear" and "Sleepy Bears". We will read fun stories about bears, as well as do some fun bear art work. We also plan to do some ice painting in the sensory table. This activity is always enjoyed by the children-then are often amazed by the colors spreading through the ice. Just a reminder-if your child likes bringing a toy or stuffed animal to school, please try to limit it to one item, and be sure it can fit in your child's cubby. Parents can help remind your children to take care of their special toys by storing them in their cubbies. Thanks so much! Jenny, Tess, Amy, Khadoma, and Bari! Quote of the Week: "That pineapple didn't want in my mouth-but I chewed it up and it's too late now! Silly pineapple!" by Lilly.
