Dear Preschool Parents,

Owls and the Full Moon were the themes last week at preschool. Teacher Amy covered the floor with butcher paper and the children had a great time decorating it with corn starch, paint, and glitter. The result was amazing and is currently up on the bulletin board, full moon and all. We added a real branch to create a tree and the children made owls to sit on the branches. This art project was an amazing sensory experience and the children really had fun making it. Next time you come in the classroom, come in and check it out. The children also made moon cookies last week-fun and delicious! Teacher Jenny also read some wonderful books at circle time like, Owl Moon, and Owl Babies. Wednesday was singing with Khadoma as usual which the children always look forward to. It was a great week!

Next week at preschool we will be talking about our feelings. We will be using a program called Second Step that helps children identify feelings and talk about ways to solve problems. They continue this program at Orcas Elementary, and it is always enjoyed by the children as well as very beneficial. We will also be making paper lanterns for Chinese New Year and reading some Groundhog stories for Groundhog Day. The children will get to make some beautiful plexi-glass mood paintings, and also do a yarn pressing art activity. We will be singing, playing, and learning all week long!

Thank you to all our Children House parents for letting us be a part of your children’s lives. They are amazing, wonderful kids who teach us every day!

Jenny, Tess, Amy, Khadoma, and Bari!
