February 21, 2010

Dear Preschool Parents,

We had a very fun time at preschool last week doing things for ourselves and talking about our pets. The children practiced zipping, snapping, and tying all week. We also talked about all the things we can do for ourselves as we are getting bigger. Teacher Amy got out the clay on Thursday and the children had a great time. Build your own pizza was for lunch on Tuesday and the children really enjoyed putting their own toppings on their pizza. Teacher Khadoma led singing on Wednesday as usual which is always a fun circle. We also have a pet bulletin board up in the classroom with pictures of the children’s pets. If you didn’t bring in a picture last week, you’re not too late-bring one in for us this week. Finally, if you haven’t noticed already, the children have been building some amazing volcanoes in the sand box. We even used baking soda, vinegar, and red water color to make a fabulous eruption. It was a great week!

Next week at preschool we are talking about shapes! We will be doing lots of art with shapes, including using crayons on our warm plate to draw shapes. The children will get to weave paper placemats, make shape biscuits, and do some finger painting. Teacher Khadoma will lead singing on Wednesday, and we should have some other great circles…perhaps talking about circles!

We are having a work party on Saturday February 27th from 10-3pm. We have many projects in the yard and would really love your help. There is going to be Thai food for all our helpers at the end of the day thanks to Teacher Pim. Come one, come all! PLEASE!!!

Jenny, Tess, Amy, Khadoma, and Bari!

Quote of the Week: Teacher Jen said to Forest, “K is for knot. Do you ever get knots in your shoelaces?” Forest replied, “No, I have knot in my nose.”
