March 28, 2010

Dear Preschool Parents,

Last week was the first week of spring and we had a great time talking about the new season in preschool. All the children had the opportunity to make baskets and plant grass seed in them this week. It will be fun to check them out on Monday and see how much they have grown! We did some gardening this week, bringing our pea starts to the garden. We also planted more starts inside. Teacher Jenny brought out our Second Step program this week-this program helps children understand each other’s feelings and builds social skills. The children are always engaged in Second Step and they have a lot to add to the discussion. Outside this week we got out the bubbles and the children had a great time. It was a great first week of spring!

Next week at preschool we are going to continue to talk about spring as well as do some fun activities with eggs. The children will get to dye eggs for their baskets and also make some egg window stickers. We will be looking and listening to the sights and sounds of spring, and might even go on a walk to look for birds. Please bring in any ½ gallon milk containers you may have-we need them for bird feeders! It should be a great week!

The teachers have participated in two different trainings the last two Saturdays of this month. The first was the Connections Conference where each teacher had the opportunity to take a few classes. This past Saturday we continued to learn more about writing Learning Stories. Both of these trainings were excellent and inspiring. Any questions-please ask!

   Lilly- “Baby who?”
