Dear Preschool Parents,

Last week at preschool we focused on Oceans and Beaches. The children went on a walking field trip to Indian Island and explored the beach during a very low tide. They saw crabs, starfish, and many other wonderful sea creatures. In the classroom we worked on Father’s Day pictures, used some sea creature stamps, and played with play dough. On Thursday Nita from the Library came and read some wonderful stories to the children about Dads. The children love her visits and really enjoyed her stories. It was a busy, wonderful week.

Next week at preschool we will be focusing on Orcas History. This week’s field trip is to the Orcas Museum. The children will get to tour the museum and have a picnic lunch. Please check your child’s field trip day and remember to pack a lunch on that day! It is also important to note that field trips are optional if you wish for your child to stay in the classroom. While talking about Orcas History this week we will also include the island’s Native American history. The children will be making a paper bag totem pole and dream catchers this week. Jana is going to come to circle one day to talk about growing up on Orcas and what is was like when she was a little girl. It should be a great week.

Happy Father’s Day to some wonderful Dads!

Jenny, Tess, Amy, Khadoma, Becky, and Cara!
