Dear Preschool Parents,
Hope you are all having an enjoyable Fourth of July week-end. The parade yesterday was well represented by Children's House.....students and their families, staff, board members, mayoral candidates with their owners and managers all made for a large group parading down the street almost at the front of the line.
We have a new mayor---Clara, followed in votes by Lucky Lu, April, Bossy and Tractor. We thank all the candidates and their owners for participating in a successful fundraiser that raised over $7500- (final numbers will be posted tomorrow). Thanks also to our board members, parents, staff and community members who volunteered their time.
Last week our walking field trips took us to the airport since the fire station trip had to be postponed until this week. The children had a good time and were able to go inside the Kenmore aircraft and look around. On Thursday the children were allowed to ride in the toy planes at the bi-plane hanger.
This week begins the driving field trips and Teacher Bari will drive the students to the Fire Station in her van. Car seats will be provided for all passengers, which will eliminate the time-consuming task of putting each child's personal car seat inside . Please let your child know that they will be sitting in a different seat than their own for these field trips.
In the classroom we will be continuing our fire safety unit with more emphasis on preventing forest fires, including campfire safety and the important job of the smokejumpers in fighting forest fires. More fire safety activities from Max the firefighter will be included. We welcome a new staff member, Allison, on board. She will be working on Tuesdays and Thursdays and substituting now and then. Stop in and meet her.
Summer is in full swing, and if you want your child to wear sunscreen please bring some in for them. Also, for the hot weather (when we have some!), send your child with a swimsuit and towel for water play. Thank you for sharing your wonderful children with us!
