Preschool Newsletter, April 22, 2012

Dear Parents,
Last week at preschool was Earth Awareness Week and some of our activities reflected being conscious of our responsibility of taking care of it.

Early in the week we transplanted some of our vegetable starts in the garden and noticed that the wild rabbit is still getting into the garden and
being a naughty bunny. We could use some helping hands to finish rabbit-proofing the fence, and we already have the materials needed to do so.

In the classroom at the art table, the children created some 3-dimensional art using recyclable materials which will be displayed on the bulletin board
where our big earth is hanging. Come and take a look at their creations.

Wednesday morning we were visited by two musicians from the pied piper group-- Matthew and Isaac Olson who are brothers and very talented
on the violin and were able to engage the children quite well with all the different things they could do with their instruments, including a number
of animal noises! Matthew teaches violin to children and has left information in your cubbies if you are interested.

Also on Wednesday Nita came at circle time and read a story, "The Berenstain Bears and The Trouble With Money. She gave us money banks to
decorate in honor of the library's "Money Smart" week, next week at the library. Some of our banks will be displayed there so check them out.
Your child may have come home and told you about getting an allowance and saving money, as they talked about that in the book.

On Thursday Didier visited us for circle time and sang some entertaining and humorous songs. We hope he continues to visit us regularly.

Next week we will welcome Teacher Tess back after her trip to California... we missed her! Our theme will cover bugs, insects and mud!!
And we will continue to spend time in the garden. The weather is getting more and more conducive to being outdoors so please make sure your
children have changes of clothes for when they get wet or dirty. We would welcome any volunteers to come help children plant and transplant.
This should be a busy week.

Teachers Tess, Jenny, Emilie and Jen

Quote of the week:
Soren-- "My dad and I can help you catch that wild rabbit... we have a dog crate and we can put some rabbit food in it and some duck brain for bait,
and we'll catch that rabbit!"
